Artist’s Statement
I am working with Millie Goddard-Dwyer who is researching Antarctic krill and their environmental changes.
I found visiting the Antarctic division really interesting and was inspired when I learnt that krill had Photophores which are their light organs.
I decided to paint a giant krill because I wanted people to see the krill up close so they can see all their tiny details. I wanted to use paint because I don’t normally work with paint and I wanted to practice a new skill. I have used UV ink because krill when they are unhappy or have emotions, they light up.
I hope the viewer sees my krill as epic and how important they are even though they are so tiny. This experience has taught me how krill are small but mighty.
