I study nutrients in the Southern Ocean that feed phytoplankton – the critters at the bottom of the food chain, who suck down as much CO₂ from the atmosphere as all the plants on land! Their growth is limited by very low concentrations of some nutrients (like iron), and we’re trying to figure out how that might change in the future…
