I am a PhD candidate at the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies. My research focuses on enhancing the captive breeding program for the critically endangered red handfish through behavioural studies and the application of AI, such as deep learning. I investigate topics such as habitat preference, reproductive behaviours, and breeding differences between wild- and captive-origin individuals of the species to inform and optimise captive husbandry and breeding protocols to improve long-term conservation outcomes for the species.
