I am an astrophysicist at UTAS studying how supermassive black holes shape and change galaxies over billions of years. We study these effects with computer simulations, and develop frameworks that can be used to interpret data from next-generation radio telescopes like the SKA. I also use the UTAS Radio Telescope Array for research, satellite tracking and monitoring, and rocket launch support. I think that astronomy education is a great gateway into STEM in general, and I refurbished the 14m telescope at Mt. Pleasant so that it can join the education-focused global Skynet Robotic Telescope Network and carry out fully automated science!
