I study the chemistry of the ocean. I’m interested in how ocean chemistry, physics and biology affect the ocean’s carbon cycle and movement of carbon between the atmosphere and the ocean. I am interested in how the ocean’s carbon cycle changed in the past, how it’s changing now, and how it might change in the future. I’m currently leading an exciting new field study of ocean alkalinity enhancement, a proposed method to enhance the ocean’s uptake of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
