I study how the ocean moves around Antarctica to facilitate ice-melt using satellite observations, models, and measurements in the ocean. Waters closest to Antarctica are really cold, protecting the glacial ice from the slightly warmer water offshore, which is warm enough to drive melting. I study how this warmer offshore water makes its way to the coast to better understand how the ocean melts Antarctic ice.
