I am an Earth surveyor. I measure how fast our planet rotates and how its axis wobbles in Space. My ruler is a network of radio telescopes around the world, looking at black holes as their anchor points. The science of measuring the Earth is called Geodesy. Geodesy is needed to measure effects of climate change. When polar ice caps melt and the water moves towards the equator, it slows the Earth down like a figure skater putting their arms out during a pirouette.
