Our oceans are taking in too much carbon dioxide (CO₂), which is changing marine life and ecosystems. My work looks at ways to remove some of this CO₂ by accelerating natural processes in the ocean, like adding locally sourced limestone to seagrass beds. In addition to laboratory studies, I also take this research underwater, using diving to see how it works in the real world. By studying these ideas in natural environments, I’m exploring new ways we might protect our oceans from climate change.
