I study the birds that share our suburbs and how to make cities better for our feathered friends. I work with local councils, developers, and designers to create parks, schoolyards, and housing estates that support both people and wildlife. I’m interested in how bird communities change over time, what aspects of cities help or hinder bird species survival, and why noisy miners are taking over cities. Next year, I will be testing a range of management actions in urban parks across Melbourne and Bendigo to try to bring woodland birds back to the suburbs.
