I am a PhD student at IMAS studying the biogeochemistry of trace metals in the Southern Ocean. I am particularly interested in measuring the source of trace metals from the sediments of the Antarctic continental shelf into the water column. To study this we head south to Antarctica, and go fishing for cores of mud off the side of research vessels, like the RSV Nuyina and the RV Investigator.
