I have worked as an Antarctic Doctor in multiple roles over 30 years. I spent 18 months at Rothera Station in 1996-1998, where I conducted scientific research in microbiology for my Master of Science. I worked on a tourist ship over the 1998-1999 season around the Antarctic peninsula, subantarctic islands, Falkland Islands, and South Georgia. Following this, I trained as a Specialist in Emergency Medicine and later in Intensive Care Medicine. I have been a Consultant Specialist in ICU here in Hobart since 2007. Over summer of 2024-25 I returned to Antarctica as a doctor at Casey Station with the Australian Antarctic Division. I feel privileged to be married to a most amazing Antarctic Research Scientist, and we talk about Antarctica on a daily basis.
