Science Photography Prize 2022

The Beaker Street Science Photography Prize features photographs that capture Tasmanian and Southern Ocean/Antarctic content, and enhance scientific understanding.
The entries are in, and it’s time to vote!
Help us select the finalist photographs to be exhibited at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery during Beaker Street Festival 2022. Vote for your favourite photos by “liking” as many as you wish.

The twelve finalists chosen by our online voting system and our competition judge will have their photographs professionally printed and framed by Tasmania’s premier fine art printers and long-time competition sponsor, Full Gamut, and exhibited at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery as part of Beaker Street Festival, open to the public until 21 August. All finalists will also be included in a Full Gamut online gallery, with the opportunity to sell prints, as well as being included in a Beaker Street Calendar.

The People’s Choice Winner will receive: A $200 printing voucher for Full Gamut. 

The Judge’s Choice Winner will receive: A Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Gift Voucher for two (2) adults to travel on one of their award-winning 3-hour Wilderness Cruises with either Bruny Island Cruises, Tasman Island Cruises or Wineglass Bay Cruises.

This year’s competition will be judged by Cam Blake, celebrated Tasmanian landscape and wildlife photographer. He’s responsible for the beautiful image above, which features the endemic and endangered Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle, Aquila audax fleayi.

Entries will be limited to Tasmanian and Southern Ocean/ Antarctic content only. Only Tasmanian residents may enter.
